Why Our Paper Straws Are Recyclable Compared to Other Paper Straws?

Our single-seam paper straw uses cupstock paper as raw material and glueless. It makes our straw best for repulping.  - 100% Recyclable Paper Straw, made by WBBC (water-based barrier coated). It is a plastic-free coating on paper. The coating can provide paper with oil and water resistance and heat-sealing properties. No glue, no additives, no processing aided chemicals.

Regular diameter is 6mm/7mm/9mm/11mm, length can be customized from 150MM to 240mm, bulk pack or individual pack . The kind of coating will replace most fossil and biopolymer coatings on paper straws in the future.

The advantage of WBBC paper straw is that it is durable for a long time, will not be softened by water, so that people can experience a better and comfortable taste, and there is no glue coating, it can be used for cold and hot drinks, we will not waste paper, more than ordinary Paper straws are reduced by 20-30% and can also be recycled.

Normal paper straws contain glue and wet-strength additive in the paper. That is why they are not easily recyclable in paper mills.

Glue is used to hold and bind the paper together. However, in order to hold the paper for hot drinks. Stronger glue is need. The worse situation is paper strips in paper straws are usually “immersed” in a glue bath during the manufacturing process. It makes the paper fiber are surrounded by glue and make the fiber useless even after recycling.

Wet-strength agent is important additives in most paper straws. This is a chemicals to hold paper (cross-link) fiber together so that the paper can maintain a better strength when it is wet. Common use in kitchen paper towel and tissue. Wet-strength agents can make paper stronger and last longer in drinks BUT it also makes normal paper straw not feasible for recycling. As you may know, kitchen paper towel is NOT suggested for recycling! It is the same reason here.
