Project Challenges
This project faced layered challenges driven by new EU and Polish environmental policies as well as customized market demands.
Firstly, the full enforcement of the EU PPWR regulation in August 2026, combined with Poland’s local single-use plastic ban, low-carbon and plastic-reduction policies, raised extremely strict industry standards for all food-contact packaging. Secondly, the project brought strict customized product adaptation challenges. The wholesaler had long-term stocked 80mm and 90mm standard coffee cups for local café retail, requiring fully tailored cup lids that could perfectly match the structure of their existing cup models. To adapt to real commercial café scenarios, the new lids needed to maintain stable heat resistance for hot beverages and reliable leak-proof performance for cold drinks, meeting the dual usage demands of hot and cold takeaway coffee service throughout the year.
Thirdly, the cooperation required systematic one-stop packaging customization and supporting service capabilities. The wholesaler aimed to provide local cafés with unified branded eco-packaging, which included supporting full-series disposable supplies such as coffee cups, dessert packaging boxes, compostable straws and paper napkins. The entire packaging series needed unified natural texture and minimalist styling to fit Polish local café decoration, meanwhile ensuring continuous bulk supply and complete official compliance documents for long-term wholesale distribution.
